Whether you're mad for Mario, a Sonic Superfan, or you're a FIFA fanatic - we want to hear from you.


It's competition time - who can write the best story OR description of a game? There will be a chocolatey prize awarded to someone from each year group although this time we can accept collaborations and team efforts. So grab your gaming friends and get writing!


You could write a vivid description of your favourite game, imagine you're a character from a game and write about that, or write a story that's linked to gaming in some way. You could even write an expansion of a game you know really well, or submit drawings and artwork.

The Hunter's Footsteps

It was icy cold, and I was wearing no shoes.  Each footstep fading behind me, I had no idea where I was going or if I would get back.  The whistling of the wind entwined with the howl of wolves had always soothed me. As I hiked up the hill barefoot, alone and peaceful, I knew this was where I wanted to be, where I wanted to live. But today, today there were no wolf howls, and the whistle was more like a scream, and I knew he was coming. I knew I wasn’t safe….I kept going. That was the biggest mistake I ever made. I died that day because the wolves had followed me. He killed us all. Nobody ever cared…. My peaceful place, was my death place. Felicity Year 8

New competition

Our last competition of the year! The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award is the biggest award for writers aged 11-17.  It welcomes poems on any theme and any length. It is completely FREE to enter for anyone aged 11-17 in the WORLD . Since it began, the Award has kick-started the career of some of today’s most exciting new voices. Winners receive a fantastic range of prizes , from mentoring to a residential Arvon writing course, Poetry Society membership to books. The Poetry Society also continues to support winners’ development with performance, publication and internship opportunities.
