October Theme

Image
September has come to an end. Colder nights are drawing in. It's getting darker. Colder. Something moves in the shadows. You see it from the corner of your eye. Your heart begins to hammer in your chest as you slowly turn toward the movement and see... Have you guessed our theme for October? That's right! We want you to scare us. Send us in anything that creates fear and tension - we're all studying texts that have scary moments in them, from the supernatural witches in Macbeth , and the ghostly spirits in A Christmas Carol, to the tense and gory moments in Of Mice and Men and Blood Brothers. So, do your worst and try to send a shiver down our spine...if you dare! Check out the next blog post for details of our October competition . Don't forget, you can also send in a themed picture to feature alongside your writing, and comments on stories are always welcome. Submissions can be handed in to Ms. Robinson. You can also email them to us  at  blogbhbs@gma

The Purge

Image
Your blood trickles down; Your grin turns to a frown. My knife pierces your skin; Now the purge begins. One kill, two kills, then it's three; I'm on an insane killing spree. The fourth kill is slow and sweet, What a lovely, little treat! Next it's my cousin I didn't like, So I impaled him with a spike. It's almost midnight and I'm having a ball! That is until my skull got cracked by a maul. Matthew Year 9

The Room

Image
He turned the door handle.  The door, which was black, scratched and Victorian looking, glared down on the next unfortunate victim.  He trembled.  Beads of sweat slowly trickled down his forehead as the door creaked open.  He stepped into the ominous room; the door slammed shut behind him.  A shadowy figure loomed over him and his screams came to an abrupt end. Matthew Year 9

The Stillness

Image
It was freezing. I was shivering even in my coat.    Whistling wind stabbed maliciously through Autumn air.    Trees danced dangerously in the lonely moonlight…  Until I saw It.    Everything became still.  I ran.  I ran until I could run no more.    It got me…  And It will get you too… Ava Year 7

The Monitor

Image
I lay there shivering, not knowing where I was. A monitor was beside me, the heart level flat. My family sat around me, weeping and comforting one another. I called out, but no-one heard. Were they ghosts?  Or was I? Ellie Year 7

The Mirror

The Killer

Image
I moved quickly, quietly, so she didn't see me. She was on a rampage to kill me. I didn't know what had happened, but this couldn't be my mother - my sweet, loving mother. I turned around and ran without even thinking. Straight Into Her. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh!" Caitlin Year 7

The End

Image
My heart beat so fast I thought I was going to die. My legs hurt, but I couldn't stop or it would get me. I was the last cave girl left.  Lava was all that could be heard these days. Lava, and death. Suddenly, I heard a roar. I knew that roar. TIGER. It wanted me; I'd be its last meal. It was running to me - it wanted me. I was running so fast I couldn't see. I felt the earth crumbling and we fell. I landed hard on the ground, my legs badly broken. I wanted the tiger to just eat me quickly.  But she didn't. I looked closer - she was a baby. She sat on my lap and purred.  I looked into her eyes as the lava came rushing toward us. We waited for death. It was near. I stroked her soft fur, wishing I could save her. Save us. Izabella Year 9

The Babysitter

Image
I felt it as soon as she walked through our front door; she was coming for me.  The way her smile curled when she patted my head. She was possessed. Her footsteps got closer and closer. The lights flickered, blinding me. A high-pitched wail pierced through my ears, "Who wants a bed time story...?" With a jolt, I woke from my nightmare. I realised today was the day the widow was babysitting me. Caitlin Year 7

The House

Image
Once upon a time I was walking through the dark forest as the wind was howling. I came to an abandoned house.  I walked up to the mouldy door and I wanted to go in.  So I opened the door. It was as rusty as a chainsaw. I went in and  a light kept flickering like a power cut.  All of a sudden the windows and the door flung open.  Then the wind started howling like a ghost.  The floor boards made a cracking noise suddenly... the house started crumbling down like a mountain crumbling.  I ran as fast as I could, then it all went dusty.  The creepy house was gone.   I ran through the woods as a creepy shadow started following me.  I hid in a little house, and they could not find me. I am still here now. Hiding. Charlotte  Year 9

The Halloween Murders

Image
Three years ago, my sister was murdered on Halloween. Today: three years later on Halloween night, I was peacefully sleeping. I heard the stairs creak.  I was home alone.   Without a thought, I rushed out of my room as fast as a bolt of lightening and looked down the stairs.  There. Glaring at me with bloodshot eyes, my sister's favourite doll: Clarabell. Surrounded by a pool of ruby red blood. I ran to my room, slamming the door with all my power. Leaning on my wall, I glanced at my feet. In a flash, I was gasping on the floor, a knife in my stomach. My last sight was my sister holding the vicious doll.  That’s when I found out who murdered my sister… By Leanna  Year 8

The Dinner Party

Image
I was at a dinner party.  Everything was fine, but then I got a weird feeling.  I rushed to the door, but it was locked. I quickly came back to the table holding my breath so I didn't breathe heavily. I was hoping nobody had seen me leave. "Do you want to play a dinner game?" said the host in a strange voice.  I heard a scream from upstairs.  I froze in fear. The host started laughing. Everyone went upstairs apart from the host and my friend. My friend kept asking the host what was going on. When I came back down, my friend was gone! I saw something red on the host's hand and he held it up. It was like he was telling me it was my turn to play the game. Rosie Year 7

The Scary Night

Image
One Halloween, I was out 'Trick or Treating' with my mum. It was dark, foggy, and an owl was hooting. "Twit twoo!"  It was very spooky. I was dressed as a space man and went knocking on doors for sweets. Suddenly, a ghost appeared from the fog.  I screamed! It followed us from the Squire's house to the Deveham's house.  Then it followed me all the way home. I was really scared.  The ghost took off his suit... It was my brother, Sam. I laughed! The Barn

Image
I climbed out of the wreckage. Hoping she wasn't alive, I ran as fast as I could.  I didn't even let my feet touch the ground. I saw a barn in the distance. Reaching it, I fell asleep in the hay.  All of a sudden, the door handle turned. I was scared. I had a feeling that maybe she was alive. I saw her; I got my shoe ready to make a distraction... I woke up. I was relieved it was just a dream. But why was my leg missing? Mia Year 7

The Hunter's Footsteps

Image
It was icy cold, and I was wearing no shoes.  Each footstep fading behind me, I had no idea where I was going or if I would get back.  The whistling of the wind entwined with the howl of wolves had always soothed me. As I hiked up the hill barefoot, alone and peaceful, I knew this was where I wanted to be, where I wanted to live. But today, today there were no wolf howls, and the whistle was more like a scream, and I knew he was coming. I knew I wasn’t safe….I kept going. That was the biggest mistake I ever made. I died that day because the wolves had followed me. He killed us all. Nobody ever cared…. My peaceful place, was my death place. Felicity Year 8

The Patient

Image
Based on a true story~ We drove for what felt like hours. The harsh coldness of the wind crept its way into the car causing my father and sister to shiver under its atmosphere. I cuddled my sister for a feeling of warmth and rested my head on her shoulder to fall into the peaceful bliss of sleep. Buzzzz. The car started buzzing uncontrollably and I immediately jumped in my seat. My father said, “We’re running out of gas." My sister despondently looked out the window. My father looked ahead and saw a building, standing tall in the darkness. He sighed in relief and drove us there. “Wait here I’ll be back," my father said as he walked into the building. My sister and I waited for at least fifteen minutes before we started to get worried. I then reached for the car handl-  THUMP! A banging noise started to come from the roof of the car. My sister backed me down behind the seat and we began to cuddle together. We watched as blood began to p

The Mirror

Image
I've had this mirror since I was six.  Ever since I've looked in it everything has been fine, but... I was brushing my teeth when my mum came in. At least, I thought it was her.   I turned around to check, and she'd vanished!  I looked back into my mirror. There she was with a wild look in her eye. She raised her blood stained knife... Oliver Year 7

The Mistake

Image
I walk out of school at 15:22. I hear chattering and whispering across the halls, gossip, laughing, pointing. But as soon as I put my earphones in everything is...quiet.  Walking in silence without a sound, like white noise - just a humming sound, I keep walking without a stop. Before I know it, I'm getting pulled away from my soul and into a dark corner, a vehicle of some sorts. I still don’t know why I’m in the car. Then I realise. It’s because I’m dead. The car is carrying me to my grave, in a little crate, dark and gloomy. And all because I couldn’t hear the car or myself at the time. My soul' s trapped now, until I realise my mistake.  Troy Year 8

The Woods

Image
Sally and her dog, go for a walk every morning in the woods right next to her house.  Her dog was loving and always wagged his tail wherever he went.  Except for when he was in the middle of the wood.  In the middle there was a small clearing with a big oak tree.  On the tree was a weird ancient symbol.  Every time he got to the oak,  he would raise his hackles and start spinning around and around.  One foggy and cold morning Sally decided to go on her own to investigate. As she neared the clearing, she became more and more aware that something was behind her. The cracking of twigs and the sound of footsteps that didn’t match the rhythm of hers were getting louder and louder.  She turned. She froze.  A blood curdling scream later and she was never heard of again.  The dog would never go near the wood again. A weird looking symbol appeared on his left ear. Hannah Year 9

The Girl

Image
As I entered the vast mansion, the door suddenly slammed shut. I tiptoed up the stairs. The portrait look like it was alive.  I walked across the corridor. I stopped. Footsteps were approaching. I turned around.  It was a little sweet girl.  With a knife. ”Hello do you want to play?”  Suddenly her eyes were flickering red flames,  or was it blood stains ...           Richard Year 7

The Window

Image
One night at midnight there was a knock at the door. Steve quickly walked to the front door. He checked. There was no one there. He turned to go back to his room; there was a tall strong man with a gun in his way.  Bang!  No one saw him the next day. Steve was the only person living in the house and the only window open was on the third floor. No one ever could work that one out. Sam Year 9

The Nightmare

Image
It was 3am and I was in bed. Everyone was asleep, and all I could think about was Nightmare Bear. Legend has it that if you're facing the stairs, Nightmare Bear will come for you... I was facing the stairs. I saw a little figure running, so I got out of bed. I made a run for the door, but when I got there...nothing. Well, that's what I thought. A little footstep sounded behind me. Blood appeared behind me, the trail leading from a door I'd never noticed up there before. I walked to it. When I entered the room, the Nightmare Bear was there. It held up its hand. It was holding my mother's head, but it had no eyes, and the teeth had been pulled out. I felt faint. The light flickered and he was gone.                                                                             A faint footstep sounded behind me. I turned around... J Year 9

The Gardener

Image
‘Twas dawn. I left the cold kitchen along with its condensed windows, streaming icy tears into the raised beds outside. They’re not mine, of course! I felt a drip on my head and moved away from the windows. I saw the birds bobbing their heads up, and down;conversing happily to one another. As I turned my head away from the stone bath, there rising from his crumbled bed, was an Artichoke. His green veins sizzled with poison, creeping into the grass, flooding my feet. I stood still as he climbed up my blue legs, he shook his head reaching out to me, his eyes piercing into the back of my throat. Inside me. I feel the poison seep into my veins, swimming with my body. Sinking, I scream at him; trying to pull him out of me. The pain, oh the pain. Stops. And like all the children before, I slide into the raised beds and fit back to the hole dug for me. Silently, the gardener walks back to the house carrying his fertiliser and fork. Anon. Year 11
